The Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) is a public consortium for research of excellence that tackles diseases with high prevalence, morbidity and mortality in the society. The Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (HCB), a reference hospital ranking amongst the best in Spain, is one of the members of this consortium. The common commitment acquired by both institutions, as pioneers in clinician-scientist promotion, makes possible to launch BITRECS “Biomedicine international training research programme for excellent clinician-scientists”. This fellowship programme is receiving funding from both the European Union’s research and innovation programme (Horizon 2020) and the “la Caixa” Foundation.
