Columbia University P&S provides international leadership in educating physicians in all specialties, dentists, nurses and nurse practitioners, and other health professionals, physician-scientists, and research scientists; in caring for patients ranging from those who can select any physician in the world to our neighborhood's most vulnerable residents; and in conducting basic, translational, and population-based research to improve human health.

In the past few years, we’ve invested considerably in our Postdoctoral program with the aim to enrich and elevate postdoctoral training at the University of Calgary and support postdoctoral scholars in their pursuit of future career success. We are pleased to welcome new postdoctoral fellows into the University of Calgary research community. We established a postdoctoral office with dedicated staff who provide information and advice to postdoctoral fellows, implement a professional development program dedicated to postdoctoral fellows and keep faculty members and faculty administration informed on any changes in policy and procedures.

The mission is to ensure actual health aiming at enhance population's quality of life through Research project, Prevention, Education, and Promotion of Culture of healthcare to be considered a right/duty of every citizen.

The general objectives of CEDOC I FCM-UNL are to form an internationally-recognized Center of excellence in Biomedical, Translational and Clinical Research diseases; to stimulate collaborative research between groups within the CEDOC; to strengthen research quality and innovation and to promote multidisciplinary projects within and beyond the Center; to provide an exciting research environment for the training of Postdoctoral Fellows, PhD and Master funding at national and international levels; and to simulate the organisation of outreach activities at local and national levels.

Over the last five years our BRC’s training and capacity building programme has supported a number of capacity building schemes including an innovative 4-year PhD Studentship Programme, a highly successful Clinical Training Fellowship scheme and research fellowships for Allied Healthcare Professionals in translational medicine. These programmes, in conjunction with the recently established Experimental Medicine Hub based within Guy’s Tower at Guy’s Hospital, provide a unique environment to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research and to deliver excellent research training programmes.

Career development and training

CRAC is the UK's leading expert in the field of career development for researchers through the VITAE programme which aims to realise the potential of researchers and strengthen institutional provision for the professional development of researchers through research and innovation, training and resources, events, consultancy and membership. CRAC is the independent, charitable organisation non-profit programme, with over 45 years’ experience in enhancing the skills and careers of researchers and dedicated to career development and active, career-related learning.

Biocat has been a strategic player and catalyst in building the Catalan healthcare and life sciences ecosystem since 2006. Created by the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, Biocat boosts public and private stakeholders in the BioRegion (including companies, groups and research organisations, hospitals, science parks and other support bodies to innovation) in order to transform knowledge and technology into economic growth and social impact.

CataloniaBio is the association of companies in the health and life sciences arena in Catalonia. It represents and supports companies interested in promoting a strategic, innovative cluster, as well as helping to define the framework for sector-wide actions and industrial policies established at a national and European level. The association was created in 2006 by a group of entrepreneurs and now has over 90 companies with significant activity in R+D+I, including multinational corporations, SMEs, start-ups and spin-offs.

The FCRi’s mission, founded in 1986, is to improve the social recognition of science by carrying out dissemination activities of Catalan research and promoting new ways of cooperation between public and private research activities in Catalonia.

Policy, strategy and dissemination

ECRIN is a not-for-profit intergovernmental organisation that supports the conduct of multinational clinical trials in Europe. As of 2013, ECRIN has the legal status of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). Based in Paris, we work with European Correspondents across Europe, national networks of clinical trial units (CTUs), as well as numerous European and international stakeholders involved in clinical research. We provide tailored support to facilitate trial preparation and implementation.

The hospital serves as a community and high-complexity tertiary hospital, developing lines of actions for patients, not only in Catalonia but also in Spain and worldwide. The hospital also performs research mostly in coordination with IDIBAPS as well as training activities in association with the School of Medicine of the Univeristy of Barcelona. The hospital includes almost all medical and surgical specialities.

Our Faculty of Medicine has a primary objective to provide the best possible service to all students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The students are offered four official bachelor's degree courses (Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering and Nursing), several official university master's degrees together with advanced postgraduate courses related to both medical and life sciences. It also offers the University of Barcelona specific doctoral programmes in Translational Medicine and Research and in Biomedicine as high-quality programmes for researchers aiming at pursuing an academic career.

It is structured around research plans of the government of Catalonia, which are implemented through specific programs addressed to support career development, as well as funding for large facilities and an own research centres structure.

The scientific policy of the Catalan Government is based on competitiveness in R+D by attracting and retaining talent and promoting a coherent and flexible system with excellence as the core, funding people and the environment and facilitating the access to competitive funds for developing their projects. It is structured around research plans of the government of Catalonia, which are implemented through specific programs addressed to support career development, as well as funding for large facilities and an own research centres structure.

Its mission is to ensure that the Catalan Research Centres System is properly developed; to encourage and maximise synergies, coordination between centres and strategic cooperation; to improve the positioning, visibility and impact of the research carried out and to facilitate communication between public and private agents.

It is a municipal facility located in the Eixample district in Barcelona offering a wide range of training and cultural activities addressed to all citizens. Its mission is to bring culture to citizenship.

Health is a transversal theme of programming, both in cultural workshops and seminars. The centre is specialized in organizing exhibitions in illustration and graphic work. Also regular cycles of performing art, jazz music, classical and contemporary music from the 20th and 21st century, audio-visual and humanities conferences are programmed. Finally the Centre Civic Urgell collaborates in community-based projects and has the service of assignment of spaces for entities, companies and individuals.

It is a medical organization aimed at promoting the collaborative study of human diseases around the world. IMS promotes international excellence in research, practice and education in the healthcare professions across the continuum of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education.  IMS, working with other organizations, supports teachers and institutions in their current educational activities and in the development of new approaches to curriculum planning, teaching and learning methods, assessment techniques and educational management, in response to advances in medicine, changes in healthcare delivery and patient demands and new educational thinking and techniques.

Selection

AGAUR is a public funding body which supports the Government of Catalonia university and scientific policy, based on competitiveness in R+D with excellence at the core, by funding people and capacity building.

The AGAUR's selection procedures are aimed to select the applications that are best suited to the requirements and criteria of the different competitive call announcements applying the principles of independence, externality, quality and transparency. Through a peer review assessment system we assure fairness and consistency to attract excellence and diversity in open and equality terms.
